Disciplined Display at Damp DIOK
Authentic autumnal test match rugby conditions greeted the twelve BSN Turvens (plus mascot Sammy!) who made the first visit of the season to DIOK Leiden RC. The hard work on the training pitch is really paying off as BSN ran in 24 trys in the 3 matches…..
BSN drew with HRC A: 8 all
End to end stuff as the friendly rivalry with HRC resumed where it left off from the previous week. Excellent work at the breakdown by BSN with strong competition for the loose ball. The defensive line was also strong against a team with a lot of pace, with Joseph and Luke holding the line well during the match. A hat-trick of trys were scored by both Axel and Mats, and Matthew picked up 2 trys in the corner.
A strong first half with Joseph and Shepherd combining well in centre to feed Matthew, Bob and Zachary to cross the line for BSN. DIOK’s strong defense in the second half led to a mini drought, which enabled DIOK to take the win. Well done Zachary on instinctive running and a well deserved first try of the season!
BSN bt HRC B: 13 – 4
Memories of the defeat by DIOK were soon forgotten as BSN dished out an old school thumping of HRC in the last match of the day. Henry led the way with 5 trys, Rijk and Bob both got 2 trys. Axel, Trym and Luke crossed the line and Marcos also picked up his first try of the season! Special mention also to Rijk for great defensive tagging and a memorable double tag in the last match.
