Looking Back at a Fantastic 2025 with Wassenaar Warriors
What a memorable year it has been for Wassenaar Warriors International Rugby Club! As a truly international community club, we are proud to look back on a year filled with special moments, impressive performances, strong development and, above all, a shared love for rugby. Here are some of the highlights that made this year one to remember:
Beach Rugby triumph in Scheveningen
The perfect season 24/25 finale came at the North Sea Beach Rugby tournament in Scheveningen in June, where our Minis (U12) and Cubs (U14) took home the championships, while the Benjis (U10) battled to the quarterfinals. A truly impressive effort!
International talent on the rise
Our youth players continue to impress at the highest level. Kai Gee Kee and Joseph Richards, were selected for the Rugby Netherlands U16 squad in May 2025. A fantastic achievement and a proud moment for the entire Warriors community.
Cubs finish top of the Plate Pool
Our Cubs (U14) also enjoyed a fantastic 24/25 season, finishing 1st in the Plate Pool. A brilliant achievement that reflects strong coaching, player commitment and the continued growth of our Warriors.
A fresh group of Cubs players kicked off the current season in September at full speed in the Plate pool. After some great results, they earned their spot in the Cup pool. This is a fantastic challenge, giving them the opportunity to compete against the strongest Cubs teams, bringing plenty of challenges, but even more valuable learning experiences.
Strong partnerships in our Junior & Colts clusters
Wassenaar Warriors continues to collaborate closely with other clubs in joint Juniors and Colts cluster teams. In the 24/25 season, the Juniors cluster with Voorburgse Rugby Club performed exceptionally well, achieving impressive results, including winning the Plate Pool and finishing 6th nationally at Cup level in May 2025.
The Colts enjoyed a successful 24/25 season in partnership with RC Delft, VRC, and Dordtsche Rugby Club, achieving strong results and fostering great team spirit. For the current season, the Colts cluster continues as a combination of Wassenaar, Voorburg, and Dordrecht. These collaborations showcase excellent teamwork, committed players, and ongoing success both on and off the field.
Warrior Boaz shines on national TV
One of our U12 Warriors, Boaz, appeared on Dutch national television in Zapp Recordbrekers. In the episode that aired on November 1, 2025, Boaz took on an impressive challenge: to knock over 16 tackle bags within one minute at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. He gave it his all and finished with a great result. Read more here.
From BSN Rugby Club to Wassenaar Warriors
Five years ago, our club made an important move, both literally and symbolically. We relocated to Wassenaar and changed our name from BSN Rugby Club to Wassenaar Warriors. While our location changed, the Warriors spirit remained exactly the same: inclusive, international and passionate about rugby. We are very happy with our new home and grateful to be able to share our great accommodation together with SV Wassenaar, in the green surroundings of Wassenaar.
Looking ahead: 50 years of Warriors rugby
Exciting times are ahead! In 2026, Wassenaar Warriors will celebrate our 50th anniversary — a major milestone in the club’s history. As part of this, we have launched Warriors Connect, an alumni community designed to reconnect former players, coaches and supporters.
BSN Rugby & Warriors reunion – Save the Date!
Mark your calendars for the BSN Rugby & Warriors Rugby Reunion on Saturday, July 4, 2026. All current and former members are warmly invited to come together. The event will feature a BBQ lunch, rugby, and a range of fun activities, offering the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old teammates and share memories.
More details will follow, but for now, save the date and spread the word. We look forward to seeing Warriors from every era back together again.
Rugby community
Our club is all about people. Thanks to the dedication and commitment of our players, coaches, team managers, other volunteers and parents, Wassenaar Warriors is a place where development, inclusivity, and enjoyment of rugby come together. They are the heart of our club and help create a strong and welcoming community.
Curious about joining Wassenaar Warriors? You are very welcome to visit our club again in January to learn more about our teams, training opportunities, and how to become part of our rugby community.
