The BSN Minis brought two teams to HRC, winning five out of six games in the sunshine and the showers. Fielding an A and a B team, BSN played against teams from Delft, Hermes Schiedam, DIOK and HRC.

BSN A took on Delft B in their first match and racked up the tries. Louis scored from a run by William, before William added the second.  Lachlan ran in from half way.  Jamal was hit with a high tackle on the line, and took a while to get to his feet, but was able to continue  William scored from the penalty. Lachlan stole the ball at Delft’s line out and ran over, before Cammy added his first try of the day.  Alexander drew the tackle and passed to William to score, and there was still time for Duncan and William to combine, before sending the ball back inside for Lachlan to force his way over.  At 8-0 half time, the game was going BSN’s way, but Andy still felt the need to share his rucking wisdom.  Apparently, all you have to do is imagine that the ball is a bomb and if you’re not on your feet, roll away three metres or you’ll be blown away.

Following that explosive half time team talk, Lachlan scored again with more direct running. William showed his wing speed, shrugging off tackles to score, and then set up Joaquin for a gift of a try. From a scrum, Daniel held off the defender, before passing  for Louis to score on wing. Lachlan added another through more direct running. In the last action, Duncan and William combined, before passing inside to Joaquin, who made a glorious pass for Camille. 14-0 full time

In the next match, the tackling and pressure from Hermes was a step up for BSN A., but the Minis were still too strong. The game started tight, until Louis intercepted the ball to score. From a BSN line out, Joseph collected the ball to add a try. A pass by William played Joaquin in to score on the wing and Lachlan ran through for another try. Duncan picked up the ball and passed to Jamal, who in turn passed to William.  William drew the tackle before offloading to Alexander, who played Joseph in to run free and score the sixth of the half. 6-0 at half time.  The Minis continued to dominate in the second half. Alexander played a long pass to Louis on the overlap, who released Jamal to score. A direct driving run from Lachlan led to a simple hand off for William to score. Lachlan then scored from short range, before Louis and Cammy added tries to finish the game 11-0.

BSN A’s last match was against HRC, who were competitive in the rucks, turning over BSN ball, and quickly closing down Daniel at scrum half from BSN scrums.  The player of the match, Alexander stepped up the performance and eased the pressure.  From a ruck deep in HRC’s half, the ball came back for Alexander to break the dead lock. He then added a second with a run evading HRC tackles. William and Lachlan were making ground in middle, when the ball was worked out to Louis, who nearly sent Daniel away, but he was caught near the line and bundled into touch. There was still time in the first half for Duncan to pass to William, who in turn played Alexander in, giving BSN a 3-0 half time lead.  Despite the bombshell revelation that Andy weighed 112kg and none of the HRC players in the ruck were that big; the second half was tightly contested with HRC adding the only try.  BSN carried the game 3-1.

On the other pitches, BSN B had success with fine wins over Delft 6-4 and DIOK 7-4, before fading against HRC.  After a tough first half, where tired players missed tackles, BSN came back in the second half with Atlanta scoring two fine tries in a closer than it sounded 8-2 loss.

Performances to put a smile on everyones face.

Too fast for HRC! Atlanta in for her second score of the game.
