Last weekend Wassenaar Warriors hosted 6 Nations rugby at the SV Wassenaar clubhouse, with Ireland facing Wales, the Calcutta cup between Scotland and England, and Italy facing France in Paris.

As Ireland overpowered Wales, we had chefs in the kitchen cooking up a delicious Chicken Madras for spectators, which was perfectly timed for the break between the two Saturday Games. Followed by a late penalty try, Scotland deservedly won the battle in Edinburgh to send the English homeward to think again.

The Men’s Sunday touch rugby group started late on Sunday, with games on the pitch starting at 1:30 and ending at 3:30 – just enough time for a quick change and to get the beers in for the kick-off between France and Italy. The French contingent was well represented, with a couple of Italians surrounded, but buoyed by the support of the remaining nations.

It was great to see rugby in the club for the first time, a fantastic and friendly atmosphere with members of all ages sharing the experience.

There’s more rugby to come this weekend with games between Wales and Scotland, and France versus Ireland on Saturday, and Italy facing England in Rome on Sunday.
