On May Saturday 6th, our Minis travelled to Eemland to compete during the Leo van Herwijnen tournament. It is the start of the tournament season so a perfect opportunity to meet and play against clubs from outside our District. While it was a king of last minute registration, we managed to come with 12 players who went through the entire 5 games as no subs were available to rotate. The group played extremely well, showing a very coordinated and united effort during scrums, support and defence, taking control of the games and dictating the pace.

After 45 minutes of qualifying games, our Warriors finished 1st of their group with 20 tries and 0 given away to their opponents, qualifying for the semi-final against the home club Eemland. Our Warriors continued to deliver a solid rugby with no sign of slowing down, increasing even the pace and winning their way to the final with an impressive score of 9-0. The final was played against another team from Eemland who has been also very impressive during the qualification stages beating high performing clubs. It is time to stay focus and continue to do what we do best: work as a team, play collective. The intensity is again 1 level up as both team want to win the tournament. Our Warriors scored the 1st try after few long sequence in the opponent’s area. The energy is still pretty high event after 70 minutes of game time and our Minis have to make these extra efforts to double the support in defence. Solidary, nobody is going through. It is paying off, our defence remains rock solid and a new collective action gives us another try opportunity. TRY ! 2-0 for our Warriors.

End of the Game. We did it: we have won the tournament !! Congratulations Minis, very well done. The coaches are very proud of you. Many thanks to Eemland RC for a great day at their club and for a well organized tournament.
