United World Games 2026: ready for Rugby Sevens Challenge
Four teams, one international adventure
U14, U16, and U18 players from Wassenaar Warriors and Voorburgse Rugby Club (VRC) will travel to the United World Games in Klagenfurt, Austria from June 18 to 21, to compete in this year’s Rugby Sevens tournament.
For many of our players, this will be their first opportunity to play rugby abroad. For our club, it marks our third participation in this outstanding international event and we are proud to be returning once again.
More than just rugby
The United World Games bring together thousands of young athletes from around the globe. For our players, this experience goes far beyond competition. Playing internationally allows them to test themselves against teams from different countries and experience the intensity of high-level tournament Sevens Rugby. At the same time, it offers valuable opportunities for personal growth: building independence, learning to perform under pressure, strengthening teamwork, and taking pride in representing their club and community. All while simply enjoying the game and the experience.
Just as importantly, it’s a chance to meet peers from around the world, form international friendships, and discover that sport truly speaks a universal language.
Strong partnership: Wassenaar Warriors and VRC
This trip also highlights the strength of our collaboration with VRC. Players from our combined U16 and U18 cluster teams are joining forces, bringing together commitment, team spirit and friendship across club lines. Together, they will proudly represent our wider rugby community.
