Simply Red!
After a great but exhausting weekend of rugby at Chichester, the Kika Rugby Tournament now seemed like a bad idea, given the impending Moederdag Tournament on Sunday. Short on players, I contacted the Gouda’s head coach; Nick, recruiting Nick’s son Jack and teammate Mik to make a squad. Amstelveense RC was hosting its 4th Kika…
Watch Out Chichester!
BSN travelled to England for the Chichester International Mini Rugby Tournament to play the finest teams in the South-East. The rugby tournament rules were different to those in the Netherlands, but the Benjis and Turvens fielded BSN teams in the U9s and U11s age groups, as well as supplying players to English U7 and U12 teams.…
Last Action… Almost!
In our last scheduled fixture of the season, the Benjis visited Hoek van Holland, fielding two teams including a ‘Chichester’ squad to prepare them for their upcoming trip to the UK. The scheduler at the NRB must have been pulling teams out of a hat when creating the future list, as this was the third…
Mixed Weather in Gouda
Two Benjis teams went to Gouda to play against the home sides, DIOK and HRC. After a warm week, the temperature had dropped, there was water on the pitch and threatening black clouds scudded overhead. BSN had mixed results, losing and drawing to DIOK, but beating HRC and Gouda. In the first match T-Rex took…
Back in Black
After two weeks of pulling together sides by borrowing players from the opposition, head coach Daran was glad to have enough players for a starting nine plus one substitute for the friendlies at Delft. Three matches were played against Delft and two Rotterdam teams, with fine team play by BSN. The first match was against…
BSN Rugby Club – Annual General Meeting
Dear all, We would welcome all parents and adult members to join us at a brief Annual General and Rugby Meeting to close out the 2015/2016 Season. It has been a great season on and off the pitch and we really need your help to take the club from strength to strength. A little help…
Sleepless in Gouda
The remaining Benjis made up for missing out of the British School holidays, by having a rugby holiday themselves, dozing and sleepwalking through 3 games against HRC and Gouda. With players thin on the ground, no-one was expecting much more than a workout in the warm weather at Gouda. You could even tell how dozy…
This week’s quiz!
This week’s quiz question involves the clubs team management software; TeamSnap… a remarkably “easy-to- use” application. The question is; What does “I’m bringing…” on the refreshments section mean? A) I’m bringing myself. B) I want to sign up to bring refreshments and indicate what I’m bringing. C) I’ve been anonymously signed up for refreshments for…
Fun & Games at the International Youth Tournament!
The BSN Benjis secure 3rd place at the International Youth Tournament! Well, I say the BSN Benjis… With the BSN Easter holidays in full swing, along with famine, illness, mechanical failure and a host of other excuses which would have made Lachlan’s mum Louise proud :-), the depleted Benjis squad came to Hilversum with one…
Unfamiliar Territory at Districts
The Benji’s brought two teams to the District Championships at HRC to contest in the Cup & Plate competitions, with the Tigers competing for the Cup. What were instantly noticeable were the small and narrow pitch sizes. Some shambolic (or maybe even contrived) planning at HRC saw four pitches crammed onto one full size playing…
