BSN started the new season at RC Hookers with two comfortable wins in the sunshine.  With the entire Minis squad stepping up from the Benjis last season, there were new skills to master in the twelve player game, including kicking and line outs.

In the first match against the Hookers, the team were still finding out the new positions, but thankfully so were the opposition. BSN were up 5-0 at half time and won 7-0 at final score.  William scored on the right wing.  Alexander added a try by feinting passes and side-stepping past the Hookers players.  Daniel did the short work near the line, before William was in again ahead of half time.  In the first half, BSN had not needed much passing and relied on a running game.

The second half started with a couple of short passes, before a long ball out to the left wing gave Louis space to run in the try.  Louis added his second, showing his speed and racing away from the chasing Hookers players.

After that there were no more tries.  Alexander and Duncan exchanged passes on the right wing, but a foot in touch stopped their one-two interplay.  Joaquin lost his shorts in a tackle to the mirth of the rest of the squad, but his integrity was preserved. An in the final play, Moritz ended the match with an uncontested run, taking a 45 degree line from the wing out to the try line on the adjacent pitch.

The second game was against Voorburg, who had a familiar face, in Mac, in their ranks.  BSN were again 5-0 up at half time, before closing out the game 8-0 at the final score.  Again, they relied on their running game, breaking tackles, but better tackling from the opposition would have seen the BSN runners isolated and the ball turned over.  A warning for future matches, but it did not matter on this day.  Joseph scored twice in a player of the match performance, and William scored in each half with the second a run the length of the pitch. Cammy and Joaquin also scored in the first half and then again in the second, with Cammy starting the second half with a try after a few side steps, and Joaquin scoring at the end.
