The Hague Barbarians: tough match against Delft
It was a difficult Saturday for The Hague Barbarians (our Juniors team with combined players from Wassenaar Warriors, WRC Te Werve and Voorburgse Rugby Club) playing at home in Wassenaar against a strong and experienced Delft side.
The Barbarians were competitive in the first half with the scrum working well and a few good attacking runs against the very physical Delft players. Delft scored 4 tries though, and managed to convert 1 leaving the half time score at 0-22.
The 2nd half started in the worst way for the Barbarians as they conceded a try in the first minute after the restart. The Barbarians put the pressure on Delft and Deven Donk drove over for a try a couple of minutes later. Unfortunately, that was the final score from the Barbarians with Delft running in 6 unanswered tries afterwards.
After last weeks win in Nijmegen, this was a disappointing result for the Barbarians. They played well but Delft wore them down and battered their confidence, especially in the last 10 mins. Final score: The Hague Barbarians 5 – Delft RFC 72.
