On Saturday April 2nd 2022, Rugby Nederland organized a wonderful Bondsdag for the first time in a few years due to the pandemic. Coincidentally, our Turvens, Benjis, and Minis were all invited to the same location, Pink Panthers Rugby Club in Driebergen-Rijsenburg. Our Warriors traveled and played under interesting weather (sometimes sunny and sometimes snowy). The results were amazing and all the players, coaches, and supporting parents had a great time at Pink Panthers with rugby fun, bouncy castle, healthy snacks and yummy hot chocolate! Thank you for the hospitality, Pink Panthers!

Turvens

Gez Draycott, Coach Turvens: “The Turvens arrived at the Pink Panthers ground on a cold morning. Snow was in the air and the Turvens team were quickly warmed up and ready for their first of 3 games. The first game against HRC saw the Turvens play well. Some excellent tries by Clement, Jean and Jacques set the team up for a strong match. The main difference this week was great defence. Some great tags and double tags from Sisi, Gaspard, Harrison, and Benedict made a difference.

The team went straight into the 2nd game against Pink Panthers where Charlie and Marco put some great tries in the scoreboard. Following a break on the bouncy castle and hot chocolates the Turvens final game against The Bulldogs saw some dazzling runs by Jackson. An excellent performance from all Turvens this week. The basics were key and the defence made the difference between the teams. The Turvens deserved their medals after some great rugby!”

Benjis

Laurent Minaud, Head Coach Benjis: “Our Benjis are traveling well and had a great Saturday at our host the Pink Panthers. This mixed group of 1st and 2nd year Benjis has made significant progress since the beginning of the season and it is a pleasure to see efforts paying off in games. Strong collective action in defense and excellent support while attacking the opponents line are getting in place and keep the team in a go forward attitude. We all enjoyed this event and it certainly helps building a great team spirit as players enjoy playing and celebrating together.”

Minis

Paulie Masters, Team Manager Minis: “On Saturday our Minis had a wonderful opportunity to travel to the home of The Pink Panthers in Driebergen to take part in a Bondsdag tournament and the chance to play against some teams we have not played before, along with one of our more regular competitors from HRC. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home by our super friendly hosts, who provided all of our players with a hot chocolate, a fruit bowl and some excellent rugby action on the field. Our Minis were evenly matched against 3 great opposition teams including a previously unbeaten Pink Panthers and through their teamwork and discipline they were able to pull off three great games. With medals awarded to every player for the day, the chance to cheer on our Turvens and Benjis, a snow shower during the play and plenty of parents to share in all the excitement, it was certainly a great day out for our Warrior family. Once again, a really big thankyou to the Pink Panthers for inviting us and for putting on an awesome day of Rugby!”
