The BSN Benjis travelled to Oysters RC for the annual Mother’s Day tournament, which is also the de facto national championship for the Benjis.  In warm sunny conditions, tucked away in the woodlands of Oisterwijk, BSN’s squad of fourteen players were up against the top 20 teams in the country.  Not at all intimidated by the occasion, BSN were in great form in the group stages winning games against Utrecht, DIOK, Breda and Oysters.  Having topped the group BSN played the other Breda team in the semi final.  Unfortunately BSN were outclassed by Breda, who hadn’t conceded a try all day and they went on to be the eventual tournament champions.

BSN met old friends HRC in the 3rd place match, and despite having some unfinished business from the district championships, could not manage to pick up the pace and intensity that would have been needed to win against a good HRC team.  Overall it was a great day of rugby from the boys, which saw them placed 4th out of 20 teams in the tournament.

Thanks go to Oysters for a well organised and friendly tournament.  Special mention to Matthew and Kealan who helped out DIOK as they were short of players!
