The sun was shining, the cows were grazing and our opponents supporters were cheering. They did come with 28 players and 27 parents from the RCW/Zaandijk cluster, including players from Zaandijk Rugby and Castricumse RC, which at least shows that they’re here to play. And playing they did, until the end, scoring 2 tries in total and converting one.

Unfortunately for our visitors, this wasn’t enough to match our Warriors running and passing along or across the lines. Although we had a lot of young Cubs (14 out of 22 players), we managed to score 4 tries (2 converted) before RCW/Zaandijk scored. And another 5 before the end of the game (3 converted).

The tries came from the wingers, the backs, the forwards… as two weeks ago, it was an impossible team to counter.

The passing was good, the tackles were fast, the scrums were steady and fierce, spirits were up … And we got to see smiles on the Cubs faces from both teams when they shared a snack together after the game!

A special thank you to the parents who took their turns behind the bar, the first aiders and last but not least the coaches and the referee.

Nice report. Some south african rugby old timers came and were really impressed with the boys.
